Rangers add another pitcher looking for debut

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) The Texas Rangers added two more to their major league record totals for players and pitchers used in a season Thursday night.

Texas purchased right-hander Spencer Patton's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, and he made his big league debut by entering in the fourth inning against Seattle.

Lisalverto Bonilla, another right-handed reliever who had already been on the Texas roster, made his debut in the sixth.

With Patton and Bonilla, the Rangers have now used 63 players and 40 pitchers this season, both MLB records. That is four more players and three more pitchers than the previous marks.

To make room on their 40-man roster for Patton, the Rangers transferred outfielder Shin-Soo Choo from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL. Choo had arthroscopic surgery last week to remove a bone spur from his left elbow.
