Oakland Athletics catcher John Jaso is unlikely to play again this season after sustaining a concussion in August, reports the San Francisco Chronicle

Jaso hasn't played since Aug. 23. He saw a specialist last week in hopes of returning but wasn't cleared. The specialist advised him to “return to Oakland and halt baseball activities for the time being.”

According to the Chronicle, Jaso is "not yet doing baseball activity and there is no indication he will be scheduled for any with less than two weeks left in the regular season."

Jaso has played 99 games for Oakland this season, batting .264 with nine home runs and 40 RBI.

Division and wild-card standings as of September 17

The A's currently hold a one-game lead for the first American League Wild Card.
