The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a deal with free-agent pitcher Justin Masterson, reports ESPN.com's Buster Olney.

Terms and financial details were not disclosed.

Masterson, 29, went 7-9 with a 5.88 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 28 games last season with the Cleveland Indians and the St. Louis Cardinals, who acquired him at the trade deadline. Masterson struggled with back, shoulder and knee injuries in 2014 after making the All-Star game in 2013.

As a member of the Cardinals, Masterson posted a 3-3 record with a 7.04 ERA and was sent to the bullpen toward the end of the season because of ineffectiveness.

Masterson has a 60-72 record with a 4.24 ERA in seven MLB seasons.
