Report: Mets, Rockies talking Troy Tulowitzki trade
The New York Mets have been talking to the Colorado Rockies about trading for All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
While Heyman says a deal is not close, he reports that Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard would be in the package going to Colorado.
Tulowitzki, a four-time All-Star, is in the middle of a 10-year, $157.75 million contract that extends through the 2020 season. He hit .340 with 21 home runs and 52 RBIs in 2014 before a hip injury ended his season in August.

His future in Colorado has been a source of speculation, as the team has struggled since reaching the World Series in 2007. The Rockies have missed the playoffs five straight seasons and six of the past seven years. The Rockies finished in fourth place in the NL West last season with a 66-96 record.
Syndergaard, 22, is a 6-foot-6 righthander who went 9-7 with a 4.60 ERA and 145 strikeouts in 133 innings last season for Triple-A Las Vegas.
The Mets started 24-year-old Ruben Tejada at shortstop last season. He hit .237 with five home runs and 34 RBIs.

New York signed former Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer to a two-year, $21 million contract in November.
The Mets finished 79-83 last season and have not made the playoffs since 2006, when they lost in the National League Championship Series.
