New York Mets infielder Daniel Murphysuffered a right hand contusion during Friday's spring training game against the Detroit Tigers.

On Saturday, Murphy said x-rays on the hand were negative.

Murphy ran to first base shaking his right hand after being hit by a pitch from David Price but did not take the field with the Mets the next half inning.

He was replaced by Ruben Tejada at second base.

Murphy, 29, is entering his seventh season with the Mets.

Over 143 games last season, he recorded a .289 batting average with nine home runs and 57 RBI. 

He was the only Mets' player to be selected to the All-Star Game.
