NEW YORK (AP) The New York Mets have put catcher Kevin Plawecki in the starting lineup for his major league debut.

Plawecki was batting seventh against Atlanta on Tuesday night. New York entered with an eight-game winning streak.

The Mets promoted Plawecki and right-handed reliever Hansel Robles, both 24, from Triple-A Las Vegas after catcher Travis d'Arnaud and lefty reliever Jerry Blevins were injured Sunday.

D'Arnaud will be out more than three weeks because a broken right little finger after he was hit by a pitch. Blevins miss at least six weeks after a line drive broke his left forearm.

Plawecki is highly regarded by the Mets. He was drafted in 2012 with a compensation pick the Mets got for losing Jose Reyes to free agency. Plawecki said he went to dinner with d'Arnaud on Monday night.

''He just told me that I was ready,'' Plawecki said.

Mets manager Terry Collins said Anthony Recker would remain in the role of backup catcher.

''You bring a prospect to the big leagues, they play,'' Collins said.
