Six players, including Yordano Ventura, Jeff Samardzija and Chris Sale, will be suspended after the White Sox and Royals brawled on the field during Thursday's game, Major League Baseball announced Saturday.

Ventura, the Royals pitcher who instigated the brawl from the mound after hitting Chicago's Adam Eaton with a pitch, has been suspended seven games. White Sox pitchers Samardzija and Sale and Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez each received five games. Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain and reliever Kelvin Herrera will sit two games apiece, with Herrera already facing a five-game ban after an incident occurred against the Oakland Athletics last week.

After the fight, Sale, one of five players ejected from the game, attempted to enter the Kansas City clubhouse.

In addition, all six players, as well as White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers, received undisclosed fines. All suspensions are effective beginning Sunday, unless appealed. Samardzija and Sale will reportedly appeal and make their next starts.
