ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Texas Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland has been scratched from the starting lineup because of tightness in his left elbow.

Adam Rosales replaced Moreland at first base Tuesday night against Seattle, while Price Fielder was the designated hitter.

After missing two games last week with soreness in his left elbow, Moreland said an MRI then showed a bone chip.

Moreland, who was set to see Rangers team physician Dr. Keith Meister, said his elbow ''was locked up'' when he woke up Tuesday morning. The first baseman said it was causing constant pain.

Moreland is hitting .304 through his first 16 games. He and Fielder, hitting .355 going into Tuesday night's game, were the only Texas players with batting averages above .235.
