Blue Jays option Daniel Norris to Triple-A Buffalo

CLEVELAND (AP) The Toronto Blue Jays optioned rookie left-hander Daniel Norris to Buffalo on Friday and purchased left-hander Andrew Albers' contract from the Triple-A club.

Norris was 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in five starts for the Blue Jays. He pitched three scoreless innings against Cleveland on Thursday night, but threw 78 pitches and didn't come out for the fourth. Toronto used four relievers to complete the 5-1 victory.

The 22-year-old Norris was Toronto's No. 2 pick in 2011 and made his major league debut last season. He recorded his first career win April 9 against the New York Yankees.

Also, infielder Maicer Izturis (strained groin) was moved to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Albers on the 40-man roster.
