Blue Jays option rookie LHP Daniel Norris to Triple-A

CLEVELAND (AP) The Blue Jays have optioned rookie left-hander Daniel Norris to Triple-A Buffalo.

Norris was 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in five starts for Toronto. He pitched three scoreless innings against Cleveland on Thursday night but threw 78 pitches and didn't come out for the fourth. Toronto used four relievers to complete the 5-1 win.

The 22-year-old Norris was Toronto's second-round pick in 2011 and made his major league debut last season. He recorded his first career win April 9 against the New York Yankees.

The Blue Jays purchased the contract of left-hander Andrew Albers from Buffalo. He'll be used in the bullpen.

Infielder Maicer Izturis (strained groin) was moved to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Albers on the 40-man roster.
