The Miami Marlins have activated pitcher Henderson Alvarez from the disabled list.
The Miami Marlins have activated pitcher Henderson Alvarez from the disabled list, the team announced Sunday.
Alvarez will start Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves. He made two starts this season in April before the Marlins placed him on the DL when an MRI revealed inflammation in his shoulder and elbow.
The 25-year-old was Miami's Opening Day starter and gave up two earned runs in seven innings.
In 2014, Alvarez was an All-Star and finished 12th in Cy Young voting. He had a 2.65 ERA and struck out 111 batters in 187 innings.
