Tigers star Verlander throws 45-pitch bullpen session
DETROIT (AP) Justin Verlander threw a 45-pitch bullpen session before Detroit's game against Milwaukee on Monday.
The right-hander says he'd likely need a simulated game and at least one rehab start before taking the mound in a game for the Tigers. Manager Brad Ausmus says Verlander will probably throw another bullpen before participating in any sort of simulated game.
Verlander has not pitched this season because of a strained right triceps.
Reliever Bruce Rondon, who hasn't appeared in a game for the Tigers since 2013, threw 25 pitches Monday. He missed last season because of an elbow injury, and the right-hander has been dealing with tendinitis recently.
