San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner hit a home run off of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw in the third inning of Thursday's game.

Bumgarner's solo shot gave the Giants, who would eventually win 4–0, a 1–0 lead. It was his first homer of the season and the sixth given up by Kershaw this year. It's also the first home run he's ever allowed to an opposing pitcher.

Bumgarner, Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year for 2014, hit four home runs last season, tied for the most by a pitcher since 2006. He won his first career Silver Slugger award.

Before Thursday, Bumgarner had only one hit this season and was batting .059. He now has seven career home runs.
