Vanderbilt defeated Cal State Fullerton 4–3 in the College World Series Monday on a walk-off home run by freshman leftfielder Jeren Kendall.

Monday was a continuation of Sunday night’s game, which was suspended due to lightning. Cal State Fullerton led 3–0 with two outs and one runner on base in the top of the sixth inning before the suspension.

On Monday’s first pitch once play continued, Vanderbilt first baseman Zander Wiel drove in Vanderbilt’s first run with a RBI double. He also doubled to lead off the ninth and scored two batters later on a double by Bryan Reynolds.

That made the score 3–2 for Kendall, who hit the game-winning walk-off on the second pitch he saw from Cal State Fullerton lefthander Tyler Peitzmeier, who took the loss.
