White Sox recall RHP Montas as 26th man

CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago White Sox have recalled right-handed pitcher Frankie Montas from Double-A Birmingham for Friday's day-night doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals.

Montas is 2-1 with a 2.47 ERA in15 starts for Birmingham, including a seven-inning no-hitter at Tennessee on June 9. He has no major league experience.

Montas was acquired from Boston as part of a three-team trade that brought outfielder Avisail Garcia from Detroit on July 30, 2013.
