Hurt Cabrera with Tigers on road, won't speculate on return
BOSTON (AP) Watching games on TV has been so difficult for injured Miguel Cabrera that the 10-time All-Star decided to join the Detroit Tigers on their 10-game road trip.
The first baseman took some light swings in batting practice Friday at Fenway Park in the next step in his recovery from a strained left calf.
Cabrera declined to speculate when he'll return. The team initially indicated he'll be out until mid-August.
Speaking about the July 3 injury for the first time, Cabrera said he felt like ''somebody shot me from behind'' as he ran to second base in a win over Toronto.
Cabrera still leads the majors with a .350 batting average.
