Rodney walks in winning run as Rangers top Mariners 4-3

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Fernando Rodney walked Adrian Beltre with one out in the ninth inning to force in winning run and give Texas a 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday night for the Rangers' fifth straight win.

The Rangers have won eight consecutive home games and are three games over .500 for the first time since June 23.

Shawn Tolleson (5-2) worked a scoreless ninth inning for Texas. Rodney (5-5) only retired one of the batters he faced. He gave up two bunt hits and hit a batter before the walk.

Cole Hamels came away with his second no-decision to go with one loss in his three Texas starts since being acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies on July 31. He missed his previous turn in the rotation last week with a groin injury.

Hamels allowed three runs on seven hits in seven innings. He struck out eight and walked four, the latter tying a season high.

Nelson Cruz went 1-for-3 with a walk and extended his streak of consecutive games reaching base to 28, longest in the American League this season and a career high.

Beltre had three RBIs, matching his season high. He had two doubles and moved into 29th place in career doubles with 548.

In each Rangers start, Hamels has wasted a two-run lead. He has done that in three of his last four overall starts after not doing so this season.

Hamels has allowed 12 earned runs in 20 2-3 innings in three Texas starts for an ERA of 5.22. He had an 3.64 ERA in 20 starts for Philadelphia, including a no-hitter in his final Phillies start on July 25 against the Chicago Cubs.

Hamels allowed the first two batters to reach in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings but allowed only run each time. Seattle's seventh inning ended with Shin-Soo Choo catching Kyle Seager's fly to right for the second out and firing home to nab Logan Morrison on a fly trying to score.

Josh Hamilton (sore left knee) missed his second consecutive game. Hamilton has missed four of Texas' last six games.

TRAINER'S ROOM

Mariners: LHP James Paxton (strained left middle finger) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Tuesday. Paxton (3-3) has been sidelined since late May.

Rangers: RHP Yu Darvish threw Monday for the first time since having Tommy John surgery in March. He threw 25 pitches at 45 feet and is scheduled to throw again Wednesday and Friday.
