Toronto's Edwin Encarnacion extended his hitting streak to 24 games in style, with three home runs and nine RBIs against the Tigers Saturday.

The Blue Jays designated hitter opened the scoring with a three-run first inning shot deep to left centerfield off Detroit's Buck Farmer. A sixth-inning two-run bomb straight to left made it two and extended Toronto's lead to 9–1. And one inning later, Encarnacion topped it all off with a grand slam to right center.

Safe to say, it wasn't Detroit's day at all. The Blue Jays ran away with the game 15–1. Toronto is now 20–5 for the month of August and lead the AL East by two games.

Encarnacion remains one of baseball's hottest hitters, finishing 3 for 5 at the plate and adding four runs scored. He became only the second Blue Jays player ever to drive in nine runs in a game, joining Roy Howell who completed the feat in 1977. He's batting .269 with 29 homers and 90 RBIs on the year.
