The Rockies turned a snappy ninth-inning triple play at the end of a 6-4 loss to the D-Backs.

The Rockies turned a snappy ninth-inning triple play that provided a minor silver lining to the end of a 6–4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

With runners on first and second and no outs, Arizona star Paul Goldschmidt hit a sharp liner ... directly at Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes. The D-Backs had opted for a hit-and-run on the 0–2 pitch, which turned into a worst-case scenario: both runners were much too far off their bases to recover. Reyes easily tossed the ball to second baseman DJ LeMahieu, who stepped on the bag and tossed it gently over to first base for one of the easier triple plays in recent memory.
