Former Mets manager Bobby Valentine thinks Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame.
Valentine sat down with Maggie Gray on SI Now and discussed Rose’s pending reinstatement, which is currently being evaluated by commissioner Rob Manfred. In the interview, Valentine expressed his support for Rose's campaign to return and be recognized by Major League Baseball.
“There's a big sign on the wall, we all know that,” Valentine says. “Gambling is not allowed. And I think it's a societal situation now, he served his 25 years, you know, murder's not allowed either, but second-degree murder, you can get out of jail after 25 years.”
Valentine went on to make a point relating to daily fantasy sports and gambling and encouraged Manfred to let Rose back into the game's highest circles.
