Royals' Cain out with right knee soreness

CHICAGO (AP) Kansas City designated hitter Kendrys Morales has left the Royals' game at the Chicago White Sox with tightness in his left quadriceps.

Morales was lifted in the fifth inning Thursday night after he hustled into the third on Salvador Perez's one-out double. He was replaced by Cheslor Cuthbert.

The Royals say it was a precautionary move, and Morales is day to day.

The AL Central champions already were without outfielders Lorenzo Cain and Alex Rios on Thursday night. Cain had a sore right knee, and Rios was scratched because of a stiff back.

Manager Ned Yost says Cain and Rios are day to day.

Cain fouled a pitch off his knee in the seventh inning of Wednesday night's 5-3 victory over the White Sox.
