Edwin Encarncaion (finger) is in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for ALCS Game 2 against the Royals, hitting fourth and serving as the team’s designated hitter.

Encarnacion left Game 1 on Friday against the Kansas City Royals with a ligament sprain in his left middle finger was considered day-to-day. X-rays taken after the game came back negative.

According to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, Encarnacion received a cortisone shot with a numbing agent late Friday.

It wasn’t clear when the injury was sustained.

Encarnacion hit .333 with an OPS of 1.034 in the team’s ALDS win over the Rangers. He was 0 for 3 with a strikeout on Friday before leaving.

The Royals took a 1–0 series lead with a 5–0 win over the Royals.
