White Sox agree to terms with Navarro, Turner

CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago White Sox announced Friday they have agreed to terms on a one-year, $4 million contract with veteran catcher Dioner Navarro.

The 31-year-old Venezuelan played in 54 games last season with Toronto, batting .246 with five home runs and 20 RBIs. Navarro was on the disabled list from April 23-June 2 with a strained left hamstring.

Navarro is a career .255 hitter with 129 doubles, 71 home runs and 332 RBIs over 12 seasons, which include three trips to the postseason. He has thrown out 24.7 percent of attempted basestealers in his career.

Chicago also agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.5 million contract with right-handed pitcher Jacob Turner. The 24-year-old Turner spent most of last season on the Chicago Cubs' disabled list with a strained flexor tendon in his right elbow. Over four major league seasons, he is 11-25 with a 4.97 ERA and 192 strikeouts in 61 games (51 starts).
