The Oakland Athletics and relief pitcher Ryan Madson have agreed to a three-year, $22 million deal pending a physical, according to ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick.

After a few years away from the league, the 35-year-old sparkled with the World Series champion Kansas City Royals, going 1–2 with three saves, a 2.13 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 68 appearances.

Madson owns a 48–32 career record with a 3.47 ERA in 559 appearances with the Royals and Philadelphia Phillies.

Oakland’s relievers ranked No. 28 in baseball with a 4.63 ERA in 2015.
