After a relatively quite Christmas holiday, the MLB Hot Stove is once again heating up with rumblings of trade talks and free-agent signings.

• Former MLB outfielder Dave Henderson died Sunday at the age of 57 after suffering a massive heart attack, reports the Associated Press.

Ryan Howard, Ryan Zimmermann and Taylor Teagarden were all named in an Al Jazeera report on performance enhancing drugs. Zimmermann and Howard's attorney, William Burck of Quinn Emanuel, told MLB Trade Rumors that the accusations are “inexcusable and irresponsible.”

• The St. Louis Cardinals are intrigued by Colorado Rockies outfielders Charlie Blackmon, Carlos Gonzalez and Corey Dickerson, reports Benjamin Hochman of the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

• The Detroit Tigers are waiting for free-agent outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to drop his asking price, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Dan Haren and current teammate Tom Koehler refuted the notion that players on the Miami Marlins openly rooted for starting pitcher Jose Fernandez to fail at the expense of the team, according to Bleacher Report.

• Free-agent outfielder Alex Gordon wants to return to the Kansas City Royals, but the distance between the two sides in negotiations may be too much to overcome, reports Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
