The Miami Marlins front office is under the impression that pitcher Jose Fernandez will seek $30 million per year when he hits free agency in 2018, reports Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald

Fernandez, 23, missed big chunks of the 2015 season while dealing with a shoulder injury, but was dominant in the 11 starts he made. His 6–1 record and 2.92 ERA translated into trade talks among some of the league’s big-money franchises immediately after the conclusion of the season.

One major player in the Fernandez trade talks was the Los Angeles Dodgers, although the asking price was thought to be too high.

According to Jackson, the Marlins have no interest at keeping Fernandez for a $30 million price tag, and will either let him walk in free agency or look for a trade before that point.
