The San Diego Padres scored their first run of the season after being shut out in their first three contests against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Padres scored four runs in the fourth inning against the Colorado Rockies. They were the first major league team to be held scoreless in the first 27 innings of a season. San Diego went on to win 13–6.

Jon Jay singled off Jordan Lyle to bring in Melvin Upton Jr. for the first run of the year. The inning was highlighted by a Cory Spangenberg two-run triple.
