Watch: Khris Davis’s third homer of night is walk-off grand slam

Entering Tuesday, Athletics outfielder Khris Davis had never hit a grand slam or walk-off home run. Then, in the bottom of the ninth, he belted a 2–2 fastball from Rangers closer Shawn Tolleson to left center for a walk-off grand slam, giving Oakland a 8–5 win, and registering his first three-homer game in the process.
Davis’s big night began with a solo homer to left in the second off Cole Hamels, putting the A’s in front 2–0, and continued in the sixth with another shot, to center, off the Texas lefthander.
With 11 home runs, Davis is on pace to post the highest total of his short four-year big-league career. The 28-year-old has steadily increased his power output in each season since his debut year with the Brewers in 2013, totaling 27 round-trippers in 2015.
