The San Diego Padres were on the short end of a laugher against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.

Seattle took a 16–0 lead on the Padres through five innings, but San Diego at least managed to have some fun during the latter end of the blowout, letting infielders Christian Bethancourt and Alexi Amarista pitch during the eighth inning.

Bethancourt was throwing some heat early in the inning, with his fastball reaching the 90s on multiple occasions, including one that clocked in at 96 mph. Then he absolutely fooled Seth Smith with a filthy, 53-mph eephus pitch:

Amarista came in to throw the final pitch of the eighth, in which the Mariners were actually held scoreless. San Diego lost 16–4.
