The Pirates have placed righthanded starting pitcher Gerrit Cole on the 15-day DL with a right triceps strain and recalled Jameson Taillon from Triple A, the team announced.

Taillon will start on on Tuesday against the Mets.

Cole left his start on Friday in St. Louis after just two innings with tightness in his triceps. He allowed a pair of hits and a walk while striking out three.

In his major-league debut on June 8, against those same Mets, Taillon yielded three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings. He is the Pirates’ No. 2 prospect according to Baseball America.
