The Seattle Mariners have traded lefthander Wade Miley to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Ariel Miranda, the teams confirmed on Sunday.

Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleballfirst reported the deal.

Baltimore has been looking around for a starter ahead of Monday’s trade deadline, watching Drew Pomeranz and Andrew Cashner before they were dealt away. Miley will join a rotation comprised of Chris Tillman, Kevin Gausman and Ubaldo Jimenez.

The back-end of the rotation has been a particularly grand problem for the Orioles, who lead the American League East by a 1/2 game over the Blue Jays. Veteran starter Yovani Gallardo has a 5.70 ERA in 13 starts this season, and 26-year-old Tyler Wilson’s ERA has risen to 4.98.

MLB trade rumors: Yankees continue to sell

Miley has had struggles of his own, going 7–8 with a 4.98 ERA over 19 starts for Seattle, but Baltimore will hope a second change of scenery will help the southpaw become the effective starter he was in Arizona two years ago.
