Rockies rookie Stephen Cardullo put together quite the day on Wednesday.

Cardullo was called up last week, and after floating around the Independent League for four years and catching on in the Rockies’ system, had a big breakthrough during Colorado’s doubleheader.

Wednesday was his 29th birthday.

He hit his first career home run in Game 1.

He hit his first career grand slam in Game 2.

Watch these things happen below.

And in Game 2:

Cardullo is a product of Florida State, and hit .308 with 17 home runs and a .889 OPS at Triple A Albuquerque this year, his first stop with an MLB affiliate since 2011. He was originally drafted by the D’Backs in the 24th round in 2010.

This is a cool story, it appears.
