More than half the Brewers' lineup goes deep, including the pitcher

The Brewers hit five home runs in their 10-4 victory over the Pirates in Milwaukee on Monday night. Those home runs were hit by five different players, including starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo, but not team home run leader Ryan Braun.  The other Brewers to homer were, in order, Jean Segura, Norichika Aoki, Carlos Gomez and Yunieski Betancourt.

With that, Milwaukee became just the second team to have five different players homer in the same game this season, joining the Yankees who, on April 9, got home runs from Ichiro Suzuki, Robinson Cano, Kevin Youkilis, Lyle Overbay, and Brennan Boesch.

Prior to this game, Milwaukee had not hit back-to-back home runs all season, but Gallardo and Aoki did it in the fourth inning off Pirates starter Wandy Rodriguez, and Gomez and Betancourt did it in the fifth off reliever Jonathan SanchezGallardo's home run was his second of his season and 12th of his career, the most by an active pitcher:

Last year, there were 17 games by 11 teams in which five or more different teammates hit home runs. Only once, though, did a team have six different men homer in a game, that being the Diamondbacks on June 20 when Aaron Hill, Jason Kubel, Miguel Montero, John McDonald, Justin Upton and Ryan Roberts all hitting roundtrippers, with Roberts, the sixth, being an inside-the-park job.

Of those 17, only one included a home run by a pitcher. That pitcher? Yovani Gallardo in a home game against the Pirates. The other Brewers to homer in that game were Braun, Jeff Bianchi, Rickie Weeks and Gomez.
