Baseball misadventures in southeast Asia

Jordany Valdespin can testify to the consequences of an ill-timed bat flip, but at least he did confirm that he'd hit a home run before doing so. Not so for Jeon Jun-woo of the Korean Baseball Organization's Lotte Giants, who thought he'd struck a game-winning home run…

Eh, not so much. To the amusement of the NC Dinos bullpen, Jeon was so busy hot-dogging that he didn't even realize his flyball had been caught. Props to Dan of MyKBO.net for unearthing this.

Speaking of baseball misadventures in Southeast Asia, check out the latest installment of Manny Being Manny from Taiwan, where he's playing for the EDA Rhinos of the Chinese Professional Baseball League:

Ramirez slides about 20 feet short of second base, and traveled for about five feet before coming to a dead stop and being tagged out. The play may not be as baffling as the time he intercepted Johnny Damon's relay throw, but undeniably, even at 41 years old, he's still got it. As of earlier this week, he was hitting .347 for the EDA Rhinos and tied for the league lead with five homers. Hat tip to Busted Coverage for that "web gem."
