GIF: Cop celebrates as Torii Hunter flips over wall chasing David Ortiz's grand slam

No lead is ever safe in Fenway Park, especially not when David Ortiz is at bat. Down 5-1 with two outs in the eighth inning of Game 2 of the ALCS on Sunday night, Big Papi hit Detroit reliever Joaquin Benoit's first pitch for a game-tying grand slam into the Boston bullpen.

That blast is destined to be remembered forever by the Fenway faithful, especially since the Red Sox rallied to win in the bottom of the ninth. As if Ortiz's slam needed an additional twist to make it more memorable, it got one when Tigers rightfielder Torii Hunter nearly caught Ortiz's fly ball, but he overran it just slightly — the width of a baseball, maybe — before tumbling over the wall and into the bullpen. Oh, and then there was the priceless reaction of the police officer in the bullpen as Hunter flipped over the wall. Check out the gif above, courtesy of @bubbaprog,

You can't see it from that angle, but the Red Sox bullpen catcher did catch the ball, while Hunter, who landed flat on his back and scraped his head, remained down for a minute or two, though he did finish the game.

Ortiz's shot was just the third game-tying grand slam in postseason history. Ron Cey hit one for the Dodgers against the Phillies in Game 1 of the 1977 NLCS, while Vladimir Guerrero hit one for the Angels against the Red Sox -- at Fenway, of course -- in Game 3 of the 2004 ALDS. Their respective teams lost those games, but Boston, which spent the first 14 2/3 innings of the series managing just one hit, and the first 16 scoring just one run, prevailed in the ninth, 6-5, on a walk-off single from Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The ALCS is now tied at 1-game apiece with Game 3 in Detroit on Tuesday afternoon.
