Kampmann-Barros set for UFC 93

MMAWeekly.com on Monday learned that bout agreements have been signed for a welterweight matchup between Martin Kampmann and Alexandre Barros at UFC 93 on Jan. 17 in Dublin, Ireland.

MMAWeekly.com was the first to report the bout was in the works, but a source close to Kampmann confirmed that the ink has dried on the fight.

Kampmann will be making his debut at 170 pounds. The Danish fighter decided a weight drop was in order following a TKO loss to middleweight contender NateMarquardt at UFC 88. He is currently training at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas alongside welterweights Mike Pyle, Jay Hieron and John Alessio, among many others that drop into the gym. It is unknown whether the Dublin fight will be his first real weight cut to the 170-pound limit.

Barros carries a record of 13-5 in professional competition and got his start in Brazil's bare-knuckle IVC in 1999. From 2000 to 2002, he fought, and lost, three times in the U.S., most notably to Matt Hughes at "WEF 9" in May of 2000. He is currently riding a nine-fight win streak in Brazilian competition.
