MMA star Kimbo Slice was awaiting a heart transplant at the time of his death on Monday, according to a report obtained by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Slice died on Monday night at the age of 42 after being admitted to Northwest Medical Center in Florida on Friday with severe abdominal pain, nausea and difficulty breathing, according to the hospital report. When doctors discovered Slice had congestive heart failure and a mass in his liver, they placed him on a ventilator in ICU and prepped him to be transferred to a Cleveland hospital where he would have been placed on an organ donor list.

Slice won his last Bellator bout in February against Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris, but the victory was later changed to a no-contest after he tested positive for steroids. According to the hospital report, Slice had no history of illicit drugs and trauma and foul play were not thought to be factors in his death.

Slice was scheduled to headline Bellator 158 in July against James Thompson.
