UFC releases trailer for new CM Punk documentary

The UFC has released a new trailer for a documentary chronicling CM Punk's road to his MMA debut at UFC 203.

Famed former WWE superstar CM Punk is slated to make his mixed martial arts debut in September after joining UFC in December 2014, and Fox Sports 1 is gearing up for his first fight by showing a new four-part documentary about his path to mixed martial arts.

The Evolution of Punk will air on Mondays at 9:30 p.m. ET starting Aug. 15. On Tuesday, UFC released a trailer for the documentary, featuring montage shots of CM Punk in snowy Chicago and in the gym training with dramatic music playing in the background.

"Everybody has that misconception pro-wrestling is fake, all the people in pro-wrestling are fake and can't fight," Punk says in the trailer.

Punk's debut has been met with mixed response, with some seeing it purely as a publicity stunt to capitalize on a big name. WWE superstar Brock Lesnar was a huge draw for the UFC, but he had a history of amateur wrestling—he was All-America and a national champion in college.

"Why can't I? I can try this," Punk responds in the video.

The documentary will be four episodes in total. Punk is slated to make his UFC debut on Sept. 10 at UFC 203 in Cleveland, where he will fight Mickey Gall.
