Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes will carry out a long-awaited meeting with his client this weekend.

With the Portuguese winger's future still very much in the balance, the transfer world is eagerly awaiting Mendes' arrival in Switzerland.

The agent was originally supposed to land in the Alpine country some time ago, but for a variety of reasons he has apparently delayed his visit.

Chief among these factors was that of Filipe Luis Scolari. "Big Phil," currently in charge of Portugal, will take the reins of Chelsea shortly after Euro 2008, and Mendes was a facilitator of that deal.

With that out of the way, he is now clear to meet with Ronaldo, whose future at Manchester United is uncertain.

Real Madrid and the Spanish media have courted controversy in their frequent statements about the highly rated youngster, while Ronaldo himself has done little to dispel the rumors of his transfer.

When he and Mendes talk on Saturday or Sunday, then, the world will no doubt be trying to listen.

Mendes' official reason for visiting the country this weekend is to take in Portugal's match against Switzerland in Basel.
