Joe Calzaghe postponed his proposed fight against Roy Jones Jr. because of an injured right hand.

The 36-year-old Calzaghe, who is unbeaten in 45 professional fights during a 15-year career, injured his hand Sunday in training, his lawyer told The Associated Press. Calzaghe relinquished his WBC super-middleweight title to fight Jones.

"He rang me in a panic saying he would not be ready to fight," Gareth Williams said Tuesday.

Calzaghe planned to see a hand specialist. Williams insisted the light-heavyweight fight will go ahead later in the year.

Williams said he would seek a venue for the bout, and planned to speak to HBO officials about scheduling a date.
