SKorean baseball player probed in match-fixing

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- South Korean prosecutors are investigating a professional baseball player for alleged match-fixing.

A prosecution office in the southeastern city of Daegu said Tuesday it's questioning an LG Twins pitcher with the surnam Kim before deciding whether to seek his formal arrest.

The office refused to provide further details.

Media reports say that player and another LG Twins pitcher allegedly took bribes from a broker in return for deliberately allowing walks in certain innings.

Prosecutors are separately probing alleged match-fixing in professional volleyball and have arrested at least five players.

The country's soccer league faced a match-fixing scandal last year. Nearly 80 players and brokers were convicted.
