Peter Ueberroth, Harvey Schiller and Casey Wasserman are among five business, sports and entertainment leaders appointed to a new America's Cup advisory board.

Ueberroth was baseball commissioner from 1984-89 after heading the organizing committee of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He also served as chairman of the U.S. Olympic Committee from 2004-08.

Schiller served as secretary general of the U.S. Olympic Committee and worked for Turner Broadcasting. Wasserman heads Wasserman Media Group, a giant in sports marketing.

Also appointed to the board on Thursday were L. Jay Cross, a former president of the New York Jets and a three-time Olympic sailor, and Geoffrey Mason, senior production specialist at ESPN and former executive producer at ABC. Mason crewed aboard Nefertiti in the 1962 America's Cup defense trials off Newport, R.I.

Another appointment to the advisory board will be made later this year.

The 34th America's Cup will be held in 2013 on San Francisco Bay.
