Marino pulling for Henne, would deal for Palmer

Dan Marino, mulling a list of Dolphins quarterback options, said Chad Henne is worthy of starter status, but also cited Carson Palmer as a veteran who would interest him as long as it didn't mean losing a high draft pick. "I've always liked Carson," Marino said after addressing sports business executives. "For a third-rounder, I would do it." (Miami Herald) Comment

Jazz on cusp of epic collapse

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, no team in NBA history has ever started a season 15-5 and not made the playoffs. In addition, no squad during the 64-year timeline of the league has reached 27-13 and not qualified for the postseason. The Jazz stand on the precipice of both. Utah's elimination number has dwindled down to one with seven regular-season contests to go. (Salt Lake Tribune) Comment

Ryan expects more from Wilson

Despite a career year in 2010, the Rangers and Nolan Ryan want more from C.J. Wilson. Wilson, who will toe the rubber on Opening Day at 3 p.m. on Friday, made the transition from reliever to starter in 2010. He won a team-high 15 games and became a reliable hurler. He's the No. 1 pitcher on the staff this season. He pitched a career-high 204 innings in 33 starts. "I look at the way he works and how he goes about his business, and age-wise, I think he's in position to handle a workload like that or even more," Ryan said. "It wouldn't surprise me if he throws more innings this year than he did last year." ... "I think he's very comfortable in that role as a starter [and has] matured in that capacity. I expect this year will be better than last year." (ESPNDallas.com) Comment
