Mets VP challenges farmhands to fight
The Binghamton Mets clubhouse nearly turned into a scene out of WWE Raw recently, when VP for player development Tony Bernazard removed his shirt and challenged the Double-A players to a fight during a postgame tirade, multiples sources told the Daily News. Bernazard particularly went after middle infield prospect Jose Coronado, using a slang term associated with a woman's anatomy, a source indicated. The confrontation happened about 10days before the All-Star break, according to insiders. (New York Daily News)
Nets interested in Davis, Odom, Boozer
The New Jersey Nets are among the teams who have expressed interest in Boston Celtics restricted free-agent forward Glen Davis, a league source said. The Nets still have their $5.8 million mid-level exception to spend as they search through their options from a pool of free-agent power forwards that also includes Lamar Odom and Drew Gooden. The Nets also are interested in Carlos Boozer, whom the Utah Jazz are trying to trade. (Yahoo! Sports)
Source: Vick tempted by UFL offer
An associate said Michael Vick isn't enamored with playing for Orlando in the United Football League, but a $1 million offer would be tempting if he's suspended by the NFL or if no NFL team bids. And no, the Dolphins haven't inquired about Vick. (Dennis Green predicted Vick could sign with Miami, but the Dolphins have Pat White for that role.) (Miami Herald)
