NFL's best QB without a Super Bowl ring is ...

With Aaron Rodgers off the board, who becomes the NFL's best quarterback who has yet to win a title? [It's] not Donovan McNabb, though he gets bonus points for longevity. Not Carson Palmer, though he gets dispensation for having to play his entire career so far as a Cincinnati Bengal. Not Michael Vick, though he's a lot higher on the list than he was 12 months ago. It's Philip Rivers, and we're calling it a landslide. He's thrown 135 touchdowns in five seasons as a starter, but never gotten past the conference championship game. His quarterback ratings the past three seasons have been 101.6, 104.4 and 105.5; numbers suggesting either sound passing, or a really bad fever. The San Diego Chargers have won one postseason game in that time. (USA Today) Comment

Howard tweets: I never said I wanted to leave

The clock is ticking on Dwight Howard's free agency, though perhaps not as loudly as some might believe. Not eligible to become a free agent until the summer of 2012, [Howard] is fed up with the speculation that he's already got one foot out the door of Amway Center and the Orlando Magic organization. Late Monday afternoon, a fan named Mike Philpot sent Howard the following message via Twitter: "D12 ... be different. Stay in Orlando. You can own this city. See Jordan and Tim Duncan for examples." Howard issued the following response: "I never said I wanted to leave stop reading the rumors. It's really stupid. And annoying to be honest. They tryna make something outta nothing I have another yr under my contract before I can sign." (Orlando Sentinel) Comment

Young: Sick of Rangers' treatment

Whether the Rangers are able to swing a deal for Michael Young is not a clear as the fact the relationship has become fractured. The Rangers claim Young recently requested a trade for the second time in 25 months because he changed his mind about his willingness to DH. Young claims he made the request because he changed his mind about his trust in management. "I've kept a low profile out of respect for the team, the coaching staff, my family and the fans because I didn't want to put anybody on an unnecessary roller coaster," Young said. ... "The suggestion that I've simply had a change of heart and asked for a trade is a manipulation of the truth. I want to be traded because I've been misled and manipulated, and I'm sick of it," Young added. (Dallas Morning News) Comment
