Is Josh Cribbs in the doghouse?

Josh Cribbs sounded as if he had more to say before thinking better of it. Wednesday, he was asked if he cared to elaborate beyond Sunday's statement that "I'm trying to take advantage of the opportunities, the little ones that I get." Specifically, he was asked if he's happy with the way he's being used. "Uh ... I just won't answer that," he said. Cribbs said he doesn't want to say anything that could be construed as selfish, "because all I care about winning." Is it possible he's in the team's doghouse for speaking out a few times this season? "I would hope not," said Cribbs, who caught flak before the Rams game for hinting the Browns might use the Wildcat. "Because every time I step on the field I'm giving it all I've got." Lakers willing to move Bynum for Howard?

Dust off that Dwight Howard-to-L.A. speculation. It's no surprise to anyone that the Lakers will be one of the primary suitors in a possible trade for Howard, and a person with knowledge of the team's strategy told that executive Jim Buss finally has dropped his opposition to trading center Andrew Bynum "for the right deal." That's code for "a deal for Dwight Howard," and it's clear from those familiar with Howard's thinking that he'd like to join the Lakers. Bynum may or may not be on the Magic's list of suitable replacements for Howard in a potential deal that also would have to include young players on rookie contracts and draft picks. The Bucks' Andrew Bogut may be a better fit. ( Comment

Twins consider new position for Morneau

Twins first baseman Justin Morneau, when he was shut down for the season in September because of concussion symptoms and other ailments, expressed a willingness to DH more in 2012. That very well could happen. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire, during an appearance on ESPN 1500AM on Wednesday, said he wants to decide sooner than later if the former MVP will play at first base or be the DH. "One of the things Terry [Ryan, the Twins' GM] and I talked about is making sure before we get too deep in this thing [is] what were going to do with Morny," Gardenhire said. "Where he is going to play, if it is DH, if it is first base. Morny has to eventually tell us what's right for him or I'll make the decision for him and we will go from there."
