Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Penner injured his back while trying to eat some pancakes on Saturday morning. He explains the situation thusly: "I just leaned over to dip into some delicious pancakes that my wife made. It's just like it (the pain) wraps around you and squeezes. ... So it was disappointing. Hopefully it's just an isolated incident, and not something that's going to become chronic." (Thanks to Sean Ellen, of Kitchener, Ontario , for the link.)

Still Talkin' TebowHow big was Tebowmania yesterday? The Steelers-Broncos game drew nearly 42 million viewers, making it the highest-rated wildcard game since 1988. The game peaked with a rating of 31.6 from 8:00-8:15 pm ET. Yes, 31.6. Among those 42 million people watching the game was Lady Gaga, who expressed her feelings on Tebow, complete with f-bomb, on Twitter. Gaga was far from the only person who chirped about Tebow on Twitter. The social media site says the almighty one set a new record for sports Tweets per second.

Basketball Video Of The DayI say an over-the-backboard game-winning shot is more impressive than a lucky full-court heave. Here's Pawnee City (NE) High School's Hadley Sejkora pulling that off against Freeman High School this past weekend.
