Fitzgerald ready to leave Cardinals?

By virtue of his profession, Larry Fitzgerald Sr. had to know that by taking to Twitter, his son would probably have some explaining to do in Arizona. Larry Fitzgerald Sr., a sportswriter who occasionally opines about his son's athletic endeavors, took to Twitter on Sunday and ripped the Cardinals as they went through a dismal 58-0 loss to the Seahawks. "Pathetic performance by Arizona Cardinals," Fitzgerald wrote. "Cardinals loss 9 straight can't do anything right." Fitzgerald also referred to the blowout loss as, "Humbling embarrassing frustrating angering disappointing painful. What happens when u quit!" The elder Fitzgerald also referenced Larry Jr.'s high school experience, when Larry Sr. transferred his son to a different school. (Pro Football Talk) Comment

Collins' patience for Bynum wearing thin

Through mid-November, Doug Collins sang the same tune when it came to Andrew Bynum. [Collins] would say something like: "Nobody wants to play more than Andrew. He's working so hard, doing everything he can." ... Bynum, who is making $16.5 million in the final year of his deal, is playing for his next contract. A maximum deal could net Bynum as much as $100 million over five seasons. Collins would also point out that injuries cut short his playing career and say he never questions when a player says he's hurt or in pain. But Collins' public mindset seemingly began to change Nov. 18. ... So what happened? One theory is that with each of Bynum's numerous setbacks, Collins realized the chances that Bynum won't play at all this season kept increasing. (phillyburbs.com) Comment

Youkilis closer to deal with Yankees?

Forced to find a Plan B to fill the third-base void left for much of 2013 by Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees may soon have an answer. Kevin Youkilis' agent says his client will decide on a team soon and Youkilis is "giving serious consideration to the Yankees." "Kevin's in the process of considering options and we'll obviously make a decision at some point not too far in the future here," Youkilis' rep, Joe Bick, said Sunday. Bick would not handicap Youkilis' choice in greater detail, nor would he talk about what other teams are involved, but it's clear Youkilis likes the idea of playing for the Yanks though no decision has been made yet. Bick did say that he didn't think past flaps between Joba Chamberlain and Youkilis would have any effect. (New York Daily News) Comment
