Knicks hope to host LeBron on July 1

King James' itinerary come July 1 is shrouded in mystery. But the New York Knicks are making preparations like they are expecting to host his first stop. According to a source, the Knicks are making plans to host an elaborate meal and meeting with James in a high-end location in Manhattan during the afternoon and evening of July 1, which is next Thursday. The tentative plan is for Knicks management and officials to host James and his various agents and friends for a large dinner party catered by a celebrity chef. The Knicks are currently scouring the city for an available high-rise condo or apartment with a great view to rent for the event, the source said. (The Plain Dealer) Comment

Ravens' backup pricier than star QB

Some say backup quarterback is the best job in sports, and Marc Bulger will be paid handsomely to perform it. [Bulger], the Ravens' new backup quarterback, will actually make more than Joe Flacco, their starter. Bulger signed a one-year, $3.8 million contract that could max out at $5.3 million if all incentives are reached. Flacco will earn $2.66 million this season. In fact, Bulger will make more in 2010 than Flacco will receive in the next three seasons. Barring a new deal for Flacco, he will earn $2.78 million in 2011 and $3.11 million in 2012, the final year of his rookie contract. (The Baltimore Sun) Comment
