21Michigan State Spartans
Last Week: 24
The Spartans' Rose Bowl hopes remain alive. They need to beat Penn State in two weeks and hope that Ohio State loses. Whatever happens, this will be the first time since 1996-97 that MSU has had consecutive bowl seasons.
Last game: Beat Purdue, 21-7.
Next game: Nov. 22 at Penn State.
22Pittsburgh Panthers
Last Week: --
If you had told me LeSean McCoy would rush for 39 yards against Louisville, I would have assumed the Panthers lost. Instead, they forced five turnovers and cruised to a win that assures their first bowl berth since 2004.
Last game: Beat Louisville, 41-7.
Next game: Nov. 22 at Cincinnati.
23Cincinnati Bearcats
Last Week: --
The Bearcats somehow blew an 11-point lead in the final 19 seconds of regulation against West Virginia but rallied to win in overtime. In doing so, they became the first team since 2001 to hold the Mountaineers below 100 yards rushing.
Last game: Beat West Virginia, 26-23 (OT).
Next game: Friday at Louisville.
24Oregon State Beavers
Last Week: --
The good news: The Beavers have rolled off four-straight wins and still control their own destiny for the Rose Bowl. The bad news: Their four defeated opponents had a combined record of 7-30. The next three are a combined 19-9.
Last game: Beat UCLA, 34-6.
Next game: Saturday vs. Cal.
25Virginia Tech Hokies
Last Week: --
I considered five different teams for this last spot, finally settling on the Hokies because they've beaten two of my other ranked teams, North Carolina and Georgia Tech, as well as a Maryland team I had ranked as of last week.
Last game: Beat Maryland, 23-13.
Next game: Thursday at Miami.

Dropped out: West Virginia, Maryland, Cal, Northwestern.
